A magnificent book reproducing in color photographs a collection of clothes sold in the Sex and Seditionaries stores of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm MacLaren. Published in 2006, the book quickly became controversial. Malcolm MacLaren claimed in the summer of 2008 (long after he wrote the introduction to this book) that the presented collection was fake. He even prevented an American edition, planned by Rizzoli, from being published. This confusion and these accusations of forgery made a collateral victim: Damien Hirst. Indeed the English artist had bought many clothes from Simon Easton before the accusations brought by MacLaren. These arguments around this book seem very strange but they do not detract from the iconographic richness of the book and its undeniable interest in the history of punk culture and fashion.
